Christy and the Playboys

This Celtic Rock Musical (inspired by J.M. Synge’s The Playboy of the Western World) is told through the eyes of The Playboys, the local band that perform regularly at Flaherty’s Pub in a small village in Ireland. They tell the story of Christy Mahon, a young singer/songwriter who joins the band with claims of having killed his father, making him an unlikely hero. This gives The Playboys the acclaim and attention they have been seeking. However, Christy’s presence in the village stirs up so many different emotions in the locals and begins to expose many of their secret desires. Book and Lyrics by Annie Dinerman, Music by Alastair William King.
